August 17, 2021North Carolina has a lot of great places to play golf in the winter but there are some times when it’s just not possible. So what are you to do when you want to play golf in the winter but can’t because of the North Carolina weather? You go to a great winter golf destination!
How to find a winter golf destination?
Think areas with warm weather! Here in North Carolina our winters can be unpredictable so you want to think of a destination that has pretty consistent temperatures during the winter. You also want to think of places that don’t get a lot of snow.
Where are the best winter golf destinations?
There are tons of them but some of the best winter golf destinations include:
Orlando, Florida
Florida has great weather during the winter and you don’t have to worry about snow. The Orlando area also has many other attractions which makes for a great winter getaway. You can enjoy a round of golf and then spend some time at one of their many amusement parks. The area also boasts of many great golf courses including the Championship Course at Bay Hill Club & Lodge and Waldorf Astoria Golf Club.
San Diego, California
Southern California also has great weather during the winter and the San Diego area has tons of great golf courses, making it a great winter golf destination. San Diego is also close to Los Angelas or Tijuana which are big tourist destinations. They have many golf course choices including the South Course at Torrey Pines Municipal Golf Course and Maderas Golf Club.
Scottsdale, Arizona
Arizona winters are great for getting in a round of golf. The Scottsdale area also offers a lot of things for visitors and vacationers. The area has many different golf courses with views that you can’t get many other places including Saguara Course at We-Ko-Pa Golf Club and the Monument Course at Troon North Golf Club.
Hilton Head, South Carolina
You don’t have to go far for this one! Even though Hilton Head isn’t that far from home, the weather there is a lot more conducive to winter golf. Hilton Head isn’t nearly as busy during the winter which makes it a great time to get in a round of golf at one of their many different golf courses. They have many different options including Atlantic Dunes at Sea Pines Resort and Robert Trent Jones Golf Course.
Miami, Florida
You can’t get much better winter weather wise than Miami! There is so much to do in this area that it would make a great winter vacation destination. The area boasts of many different golf courses including Crandon Golf at Key Biscayne and Soffer Course at Turnberry Isle Country Club.
Tucson, Arizona
Tucson doesn’t have quite as many golf courses as Scottsdale but it definitely has top quality courses. The area also has tons of hiking trails and parks that would make it a great winter destination. Tucson has many different golf courses including Sonoron Course at Omni Tucson National Golf Resort and Canyon Course at Ventana Canyon.
